The year was 1945. America was celebrating the V-days, big bands and the jitterbug were in "swing" and William C. Shivery, a former munitions expert during WW II, was starting the Elkton Sparkler Company. Since then we've grown to become a premier fireworks manufacturer and distributor, recognized for our innovative and reliable products, as well as for our uncompromising emphasis on safety.
Our Easy-Lite™ brand sparklers are an innovation that came from our pursuit to develop the world's fastest lighting sparkler. They light in just 1.5 seconds, much easier than competitive sparklers. We're constantly looking for newer and better fireworks, and as a result we are increasing our leadership position in a broad and unique assortment of affordably priced fireworks. Fireworks are our only business.
One of the industry's largest wholesale inventories is maintained here in our Maryland facilities, from which we service numerous active retail accounts. Plus, we also operate our NITRO™ Fireworks super sales tents at hundreds of neighborhood locations in Maryland and Pennsylvania during the July 4th holiday.
Safety is a recognized priority for us. We want to ensure that we have the safest and most reliable products, and as documented proof, we regularly visit our joint venture partners to review all manufacturing QA/QC standards. Our president, Charles Shivery is a past president of the American Pyrotechnics Association (APA), plus he has served for many years as a board member of both the APA and American Fireworks Standard Laboratory (ASFL) and he often speaks to Washington about industry safety measures.
